Initially this video doesn’t grab you but your patience is rewarded. The swirling psychedelia gives way and there is a fine degree of integrity to it all on a visual level. You also have to give credit where it is due for the time and attention paid to the stop motion aspects. The cult appeal of the video elevates it somewhere above kitsch also. The Lego figures and Squeeze Toy Alien (we had to Google that one) add up here. The video itself does make up for where things fall short, in terms of the tune and the by the numbers trippier graphics, but where it holds its own does imbue it with the right sense of balance. It is the relayed animation in a way that also holds up. The simplicity is what is key here but that is not necessarily a bad thing either.
