ASHCODE – ‘Crucified’

We now turn to our Italian music network for this video. The electropop and electrowave elements combine effectively here. The result is something that is shaped in a way that is both retro and unashamedly New Wave in terms of its leanings. Initially the video doesn’t suggest anything in particular, but when considered alongside the way the track moves it is a comfortable extension to everything that is worked in. Taking the stock footage of live performance and segueing it all together makes it work. There is a dark pastiche to this which commendably carries it all the way through. You note the influences of contemporaries such as Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Kraftwerk et al but it is good to see. If this band are to be considered the bastard child of such bands then it is safe to say that the kids are alright because this lets the music do the talking.
