Something automatically clicks with this tune. The richness of the synth scores it all in a highly contextualised way which smartly carries over in the nouveau styling. That gives it a deserved richness that coaxes the remedial cut of the tempo. In doing so the beat flits between something underground and New Wave to a slight flirtation with nou-disco. As it plays through you do pick up on the retro sensibilities at work here which also prove conclusive to bringing it all full circle and it also retains some highly appropriate comparisons with Paul Hardcastle’s ’19’ as it plays out.
